56 OUNCES OF PREVENTION, GIVES ME PEACE OF MIND
Well, I survived my recent prep and endoscopies. Dr. G. allowed me to be very awake and aware for the procedures.
First we journeyed down my esphagus and then "POW!", he stretched it so I can hopefully swallow easier. Not a permanent solution, but it should help me until that mean old Shatzki Ring does the 'tighten up' again. He biopsied some places, too, which I expected. No pain.
Then we shifted gears (and changed scopes, of course) to visit my colon. I won't lie. This was a little uncomfortable without very much pain med so I could see what was happening. Dr. G. really took time to educate me along the twists (Ooh!) and turns (OUCH!). I had seen it all before, but I really love to watch live medical procedures, especially mine. My heart cath was super cool! Anyway, we hit a bump in the road, two actually, when my gastro-guru noticed two "Very small," polyps. They were snipped away promptly, and we traveled on to the end (fill in your own witty remarks here.)
So, my esophagus and my colon are functioning at a diminished speed, it seems. Why? Aging. "AGING???" I was sooo insulted!
So, I'm on a new, and expensive, medication to try to speed up nature. Digestion, that is, not aging. That's happening fast enough on its own! :)
